Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Ice Study (“we,” “us,” or “the app”) handles information when you use our mobile application or website at icestudy.app. We designed Ice Study to work with as little personal data as possible — most of your data stays on your device.

1. Information we do not collect

Ice Study does not require an account. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or location. Your study sessions, streaks, goals, and preferences are stored locally on your device and are not transmitted to us.

2. Information processed on your device

Session data — start time, duration, completion status, sound selection, notes. Stored on-device via the operating system’s local storage (AsyncStorage on mobile, localStorage on the web).
Settings — your preferences for haptics, notifications, theme, default sound, and daily goal. Stored on-device.
Achievements and stats — computed on-device from your session history.

If you uninstall the app or clear its storage, this data is removed.

3. Third-party services

Google AdMob (mobile app only)

The mobile app displays ads provided by Google AdMob. Google may collect and process certain data to serve ads, including advertising identifiers (such as the IDFA on iOS and the Advertising ID on Android), general IP-based location, and device information.

On iOS 14.5 and later, we request permission via the App Tracking Transparency prompt before any tracking occurs. If you decline, Google serves non-personalized ads.
In the EEA, UK, and Switzerland (and regulated U.S. states), we display Google’s Consent Management Platform form before loading ads, so you can choose whether personalized ads are shown.
You can revisit your choice at any time from Settings ’ Privacy choices, where available.

Local notifications

If you enable notifications, the app schedules a local notification to alert you when your session ends. Notifications are scheduled and delivered by your device’s operating system. No notification content is sent to our servers.

Website hosting

This website is hosted on Netlify. Netlify may log standard server request data (IP address, user agent, request path) for security and diagnostic purposes. See Netlify’s privacy policy.

4. Children

Ice Study is rated for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the applicable age of consent in your jurisdiction). AdMob is configured with maxAdContentRating: Teen and we do not tag the app for child-directed treatment.

5. Your rights

Because we do not collect personal data ourselves, most rights (access, deletion, portability) are satisfied by managing the app directly:

Delete your on-device data by clearing the app’s storage or uninstalling it.
Opt out of personalized ads through the in-app consent form (where required) or your device’s ad settings (iOS: Settings ’ Privacy & Security ’ Tracking; Android: Settings ’ Google ’ Ads).

To exercise any rights you may have under the GDPR, CCPA, or similar laws regarding data processed by our third-party ad provider, contact us using the address below.

6. Security

We follow reasonable industry practices to protect the information we handle. However, no system is fully secure. You use Ice Study at your own risk.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. When we do, we’ll update the “Last updated” date at the top. Material changes will be called out in the app or on this page.
